The wood i selected is eastern red cedar. i picked cedar because its a soft wood and is lightweight compared to hardwoods like oak. you can use green wood or seasoned, although green is easier to chisel out than seasoned.. In this program, the campers will make a wooden long bow from a piece of wood, carving it down, shaping it, and tillering the bow so it works optimally. campers will make their own string for the bow. they will also make a quiver to store arrows in out of leather. they will learn how to make arrows, fletching, shaping, etc.. Quiver: wanting to make something to give to my brother-in law for christmas this year i began searching the net looking for ideas. (free had it laying around for ages) scrap wood e-6000 industrial adhesive ($4 at hobby lobby).
The most durable material for a quiver that stands to see a lot of use, however, is leather. the end points of arrows are typically very sharp. even competition arrows are capable of making holes in the sturdiest synthetic fabric after just a few uses.. This feature is not available right now. please try again later.. Making the form. step 1. trapani starts his quivers from the ground up, with a custom form mold to craft a raised bottom. with many quivers, the broadheads touch the leather and the leather touches the ground. trapani’s design brings the “floor” of the quiver off the ground for better durability. start the project by building the bottom mold..
